The position offers the opportunity to assist municipal and private clients in
multiple environmental fields achieve and maintain environmental compliance.
Typical projects will involve obtaining environmental permits for an industry,
assisting with maintaining compliance with environmental regulations, performing
investigative studies, preparing engineering reports, engineering design, and
daily interactions with clients and regulators. The selected engineer
will be assigned existing clients with the intent of managing projects and
making periodical visits to the client’s facilities. Some travel should be expected
within Iowa and neighboring states.
The duties of the selected candidate will include preparation of engineering
documents regarding industrial wastewater, air emissions, storm water
management, and other reports and permit applications. The position will require an
understanding of environmental regulations and how they impact various types of
industries, permitting processes for states and federal permits, and the ability
to build and maintain a strong rapport with clients and governmental agencies. Other projects will most likely
involve wetlands and water resources, environmental impact studies and reports,
asbestos and lead paint investigations, and site design.
