Joe Skeen Visitor Center, Bitter Lake National Wildlife Refuge, Roswell, NM
Zia conducted a topographic survey of the site using total station equipment with
frequency of shots at 25 feet on a grid at the Visitor Center Site and 50 feet on
a grid elsewhere. Additional shots located break lines, changes in elevation, utility
lines (above and below ground), edges of buildings, structures, trees, areas of
vegetation, rock outcroppings, water bodies, soil borings, pavement edges and parking
areas. Zia prepared an AutoCAD drawing at 1 foot contours.
Topographic Survey and Grading/Drainage Plan for Proposed Building Renovations
and Additions – Tularosa Elementary School, Tularosa, NM
Zia developed an updated topographic survey of the current portable classrooms
area and developed a site grading and drainage plan of the proposed area to address
site grades and anticipated needs for exterior ramp areas to address American with
Disabilities Acts requirements.
Boundary Survey, Platting and Line Staking for the Pope Mill Site and Adjoining
Lines, Silver City, NM

For the Pope Mill Site, Zia conducted a full boundary survey, monumentation,
Plat of Survey filed with the Grant Co. Clerk, located topographic features and
provided intra-visible line staking along all boundaries. For the Ancheta Mill Site,
Zia located and established property corners along the northern, western and southern
boundary of the Ancheta Mill Site and provided intra-visible line staking along
these boundaries. Additional services included providing a list of GPS (UTM coordinate
system) coordinates for all corners and line stakes and provided an overall map
of the above sites in relation to one another along with topographic features found.
Boundary Surveys and Platting of Various Parcels and Easements located through
the City of Deming, NM
Zia continues to serve the City of Deming on various survey projects involving topographic,
boundary, construction staking, replat and monumentation of various parcels and
easement relocations. Specific projects include the Peru Hill Mill Brownfield Site,
RBOG, Shattuck Subdivision and US180 Utility Corridor Permitting.
Las Alamedas Development Project, Las Cruces, NM

Zia provided topographic and boundary survey, platting, construction staking, as-built
and monumentation, site roadway and utilities master planning, hydrologic analysis,
floodplain mapping, and hydraulics analysis for a 3000-acre, master-planned community
along the eastern edge of the City of Las Cruces. The work involved analysis of
three of the major watersheds impacting the City of Las Cruces, and included detailed
subdivision design along with related hydraulics systems design and analysis for
the first 600 acres of the development. The project won a major national planning
award for innovative design and layout.
High Desert Subdivision, Las Cruces, NM
Zia is currently developing the master plan for this subdivision project. Work includes
topographic surveys, preliminary and final plats and survey monumentation. This
effort includes rezoning and master planning for approximately 350 single and multi-family
residential home sites requiring floodplain mapping and submittal of a Conditional
Letter of Map Revision (CLOMR) to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
Additional work includes site roadway and utilities master planning, hydrologic
analysis, floodplain mapping, and hydraulics analysis.
